D'Anne R. Stephens, DVM, with an English Bulldog

D'Anne R. Stephens, DVM

Owner and Veterinarian
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Oklahoma State University (1993)
Undergraduate degree, University of Oklahoma
Owner of Park Plaza Animal Clinic since 2003
Special interests: English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs and other brachycephalic breeds, surgery, internal medicine, client education

Dr. D’Anne Stephens is the owner of Park Plaza Animal Clinic in Arlington, Texas, where she has practiced veterinary medicine for 33 years.

Her dream of becoming a veterinarian began at the age of 5, and she never lost that passion. She worked her way through college, earning her undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma. She then went to Oklahoma State University where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

Originally from Oklahoma, Dr. Stephens moved to Texas and has proudly called Arlington home for more than three decades. She likes to joke that moving from Oklahoma to Texas makes her a bit of a rebel! Dr. Stephens has a special interest in brachycephalic breeds, including English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, and other short-nosed breeds. She enjoys surgery, internal medicine, and general health care, with a strong emphasis on client education. Her goal is to give pet owners the knowledge and guidance they need to provide the very best care for their pets. She understands that these pets are not just animals; they are family and, to many, their children.

Known for her honest, straightforward approach, Dr. Stephens believes in telling her clients the truth and helping them make informed decisions about their pets’ health. Her family-based practice is built on personal relationships, trust, compassion, and a genuine love for the animals she has cared for throughout her career.

Alongside her Bulldog and Frenchie patients, Dr. Stephens cares for a large number of Arlington’s Chihuahuas.

Known as "The Gentle Giant"
A favorite with Cavalier King Charles Spaniel owners

“I’ve been doing what I love – caring for fur babies – since graduating from Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine in 1971! My career has taken me all across Texas and Florida, from starting one of the state’s very first emergency clinics in the early 80s to owning practices in Corpus Christi, Garland, and Dallas. After overcoming a severe bout with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever in 1983, I returned to medicine stronger than ever. Though I’ve “retired” a couple of times (I just can’t stay away!), I love staying active with veterinary relief work a few days a week. When I’m not caring for pets, I’m spending time with my wonderful wife and our 10 amazing grandkids!”

“Park Plaza Animal Clinic has always been more than a veterinary practice to me – it has always been home. My dad built the practice, and I grew up in this building, working here through high school, during college summers, and later when my own babies were little. After spending 24 wonderful years as a second-grade teacher, I returned to Park Plaza in June 2024 as Practice Manager. Coming back truly felt like coming home. I love being part of the practice my dad started and helping carry on what he built. Our staff, our clients, and the pets we care for are family, and I’m incredibly proud to help continue the Park Plaza legacy.”

I am very lucky to work with Dr. Stephens, helping provide the best medical care and lots of love to our patients while also educating owners about their pets’ needs. One of the things I love most about this profession is that you continue to learn something new every day, which is part of what makes it such a wonderful job. Outside of work, I have a great family and absolutely could not function without music, dancing, old cars, and of course, JEEPS! I’m also a proud fur-baby mom and have plenty of fur-friends to keep me busy.”

“Venezuelan, mom of two, wife, and a veterinarian at heart. Ever since I was six, I knew my passion was animals. I studied Veterinary Medicine in my home country and moved to the U.S. five years ago, determined to earn my license and build a new chapter of my life. And here I am… still learning, growing, working hard, and figuring it all out along the way. Curious, intense, a little bit of a perfectionist, and with enough sense of humor to laugh at my own “disasters”. Because if life has taught me anything, it’s that it may change your plans… but you can still make them work your way.”
