Diagnostics in Arlington, TX
Answers Here, Not Days Later
A physical exam tells us a lot, but some answers are under the skin. Park Plaza Animal Clinic has digital radiology, an in-house lab, electrocardiograms and blood pressure monitoring at 1811 E Park Row Dr, Suite A, Arlington, TX 76010, so in many cases we can find the cause of a problem and start treatment during the same visit instead of waiting on an outside lab or a referral appointment.
Digital Radiology (X-Rays)
Digital X-rays let us see bones, organs and objects that should not be there. Images are ready in minutes, can be enlarged and adjusted on screen, and can be shared with a specialist when a second opinion helps.
X-rays help us find:
- Fractures, dislocations and joint problems
- Swallowed objects such as toys, socks and bones
- Bladder and kidney stones
- Heart enlargement, fluid and lung disease in coughing pets
- Arthritis and hip dysplasia
- Puppy counts late in pregnancy, which helps with delivery planning for Bulldogs and Frenchies
In-House Laboratory
Running lab tests here means results are often ready while you wait. That matters most for a sick pet, a pet about to go under anesthesia and a senior pet due for screening.
Tests we run include:
- Bloodwork: complete blood count and chemistry panels
- Pre-anesthetic bloodwork before surgery and dental cleanings
- Heartworm testing
- FIV and Feline Leukemia testing for cats
- Fecal exams for intestinal parasites
- Skin and ear cytology
Electrocardiograms (ECG)
An ECG records the electrical activity of the heart. It helps us check heart rhythm in pets with a heart murmur, an irregular heartbeat, fainting episodes or exercise intolerance, and before anesthesia in older pets. Breeds prone to heart disease, such as Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, benefit from regular heart checks.
Blood Pressure Monitoring
High blood pressure is common in senior cats, especially those with kidney disease or an overactive thyroid, and in dogs with certain hormone and kidney conditions. Left untreated, it can damage the eyes, kidneys, heart and brain. Checking blood pressure is quick, painless and done right in the exam room.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do lab results take?
Many in-house tests are ready during your appointment. Tests sent to an outside lab take longer, and we will tell you up front which kind your pet needs.
Does my pet need to be sedated for X-rays?
Often not. Many pets hold still with gentle positioning. Sedation is recommended if your pet is in pain or too anxious to position safely, and we always talk with you first.
Are X-rays safe?
Yes. Digital radiography uses a very small dose of radiation for a fraction of a second. Let us know if there is any chance your pet is pregnant.
Should my pet fast before bloodwork?
For most panels, fasting overnight gives the clearest results. Water is always fine. If your pet is sick, do not delay the visit to fast.
Why does my senior pet need bloodwork if they seem healthy?
Kidney disease, thyroid disease and diabetes often start quietly. A yearly baseline makes small changes easy to spot, while they are still easier to manage.
